Five Christmas Games you HAVE to try!

In all the Christmas mahem it’s easy to forget to plan stuff to do to keep all the family entertained (especially when it’s day 4 and Uncle Geoff’s outstayed his welcome and the kids are beginning to get a bit annoying.)

So we’ve come up with a few alternative games, for when the sixth game of Monopoly is just one too many…

Candy Canes

Remember the good old days when Bowie was rocking and Bob Dylan was rolling? Well, if so you’ll have tried part of this game before. Take a Candy cane, perch it on your nose and see who can hold it the longest!

Christmas A-Z

Note the alphabet from A to Z down a sheet of paper. Ask everyone to fill in each letter with a Christmas themed word! Quickest to finish wins! Simple, but cheap and effective.

(You could maybe do with having a judge in case dad tries to cheat.)

Guess the Gift

Tell all your guests to bring a gift they would like to receive. Ideally keep the cost under a tenner. When everyone’s there, place the presents into a bag, mix them up and open them one by one. Now, let everyone guess who brought which gift.

present-free-to-use-clipart

Dunk the Bells

Don’t be surprised if this energetic holiday game vaguely reminds you of your teenage years. To play Jingle Bell Toss, you simply throw tiny jingle bells (or sweets) into your opponent’s plastic cups. You could even decorate the cups with marker pens and cotton wool to make your own mini Santa cups!

If you’re all adults, why not add a splash of eggnog…to add to the entertainment if nothing else.

Get Three in a Row

Those old wine corks can get the Frozen makeover for this wintry version of three in a row. The secret Frozen fan in all of us can enjoy this guilty pleasure!

Blogger Chichi’s sale picks

The gorgeous Chichi is awesome at picking a couple of items that take her fancy and rocking them as a  unique look.

Which is why we asked her to choose her favourite summer buys from our sale and show us how she’d wear them her way.

She picked out the Chill Out Gypsy Blouse £21.95 (was £34.95) and the Reversible Skirt £19.95 (was £39.95).

IMG_5812

Chichi hadn’t shopped with us before and this is what she made of us:

The whole outfit is from Joe browns. If you love vintage pieces, this shop you should definitely check out, you will be amazed at the selection and they also have gorgeous florals for summer in both the men and women’s sections.

IMG_5814

“The skirt is actually reversible so you get two for the price of one and the blouse is going to be on repeat as it has the most comfortable fabric and beautiful subtle embroidery, perfect for summer.”

IMG_5815

Processed with VSCO with 5 preset

We hadn’t thought of pairing these two floaty pieces together, but hope you agree that they look stunning! It just goes to show there’s no rules when it comes to putting an outfit together from pieces that grab your attention and make you feel great.

You can check out more on Chichi’s blog, The Style Tune, here.

Bloggers Get Tropical With Joe

Bloggers get tropical with Joe

We teamed up with the gorgeous bloggers Kellie from bigfashionista.co.uk and Jessica from forevermissvanity.com to have a mooch around Tropical World in Leeds, spot a bit of wildlife, create some mischief and take a few pics along the way.

IMG_5244-comp

This is Jessica looking very thoughtful in our Dragonfly Dress.

IMG_5333-comp IMG_5477-comp

Kellie (left) in the Tamarindo Dress and on the right Kellie’s got on the Heliconia Flower Dress and Jessica’s wearing the Sunset Skater Dress.

IMG_5543-comp

Carolines Favourite Dress was also Kellie’s.

IMG_5596-comp

She may look pretty in our Carnival dress, but Jessica didn’t have a clue which way we were supposed to be going.

IMG_5345-comp IMG_5395-comp

Jessica (and butterfly -left) in the Summer Day Dress and Kellie (right) in the Granada Wrap Dress.

Jessica said her dress was “just the perfect length for my height and really flatters my curves. The floral design draws attention away from the bits that make me feel self-conscious and the elasticated waistline helped demonstrate my smaller waist and at £24.95 it’s really affordable.”

IMG_5471-comp

The fish were loving Jessica in the Sunset Skater Dress.

IMG_5559-comp

After the shoot Kellie said: “I had an amazing afternoon trying on so many different Joe Browns outfits. It was such fun and I now have a list of clothing of theirs that I want to own this coming summer.”

Jessica added: “As someone who had never previously heard of Joe Brown’s before this shoot, I have to say that they have really impressed me with the quality and I’m now a Joe Brown’s convert.”

Thanks guys for being such great sports and we hope you enjoyed yourselves as much as we did!

That-Dapper-Chap

Joe meets That Dapper Chap

We came across this cool looking fella on Instagram.

DSC_0200-comp

After saying ‘eh up’ (we are from Yorkshire after all) we made friends with Craig who writes an awesome blog called That Dapper Chap.

With our styles so in sync it only seemed right to send some of our stuff his way to try on for size and this is what he thought…

“Joe Browns is a brand that I’ve liked for a couple of years now but never got around to buying from. Nobody can say they are a shy and retiring brand. For people who aren’t afraid to dress a little out of the norm, embrace quirky bold prints and enjoy their individuality, Joe Browns is a brand you MUST check out.”

DSC_0195-comp

“I chose a navy blazer with a matching waistcoat that has a pink check. While not dramatically daring, the pink check adds a little something extra and some additional interest. The waistcoat has a collar which gives it a vintage feel, which is another element that Joe Browns embraces and does very well.”

DSC_0214-comp

To inject some additional personality, Craig accessorized with a Feather pin, Leather Hook Bracelet and a few of his own home-made accessories.

DSC_0219-comp

DSC_0177-comp

“I love the burgundy desert boots. I’ve never seen anything like them before and they fit like a dream and are super comfortable. I love the navy contrasting heel and laces and the patch on the top eyelet. Again, like the mismatched buttons on the jacket,  the attention to detail makes them more interesting than they could have been.”

Partywear with blogger Kristina

What better way to showcase to you our new gorgeous partywear range than with the fun and beautiful writer of Mode of Style – Kristina.

We met Kristina at the awesome Adelphi pub in Leeds, which provided the perfect backdrop with its period décor of wood panels and old tiles and the coolest bar man ever – cheers Gav!

We basically got Kristina to pick out some of her favourite dresses, try them on, have a drink with us and create a bit of mischief turning heads in the pub while telling us what she thought of all the shoes, dresses and bags.

And turn heads she sure did…

The Joe Browns Blogger Fun Fair!

What better way to showcase our new Autumn Winter range to bloggers than a party! But not just any party, a fun fair party!

#bloggerfunfair

We scouted out an awesome venue, Bar Soho, in the (funnily enough) centre of bustling Soho with a quirky retro vibe and would you believe it – Waltzer chairs and a carousel horse!

bar-soho-london

It fitted us and our purpose perfectly. So after playing an intense game of ‘Fit everything in the car Jenga’, we sped off to London to meet with fashion and lifestyle bloggers eager to see what we had in store this season.

Bar Soho

This is the first time we’ve done a blogger event, so we’re not going to lie, we were pretty nervous of looking like really sad kids at a birthday party where none of your friends turn up. But our little faces lit up when over 70 bloggers were at one point queuing to see us and our favourite pieces we’d brought with us.

Fun Fair Event

To get everyone in the fun fair spirit we got people playing some old school games: Hook a Duck, ring toss and a mini grabber machine with some Joe Browns goodies inside.

Fun Fair Fun

All the bloggers were a brilliant bunch of guys and girls who straight away got involved with everything going on and were Tweeting and Instagramming their love for the new collection.

Tweeting

Here are some of their favourite pieces…
