Holiday and Weekend Getaway Packing List

Heading on holiday? You lucky thing!

But before you set off on your adventure, you'll need to decide what you're going to pack. That's where this handy guide comes in. We're going to cover lots of holiday types, from chic city breaks to balmy beach vacations, and talk about the best clothes to bring along.

What to Pack for a Sunny Beach Holiday

Jetting off for sun, sea and sand? The number one thing to pack, in our opinion, is a sensational swimsuit that makes you feel your absolute best. Our guide to swimwear confidence can give you a helping hand when choosing the cozzie that's right for you.

We love a boho-style maxi dress as an easy breezy outfit to throw over your swimsuit. Or, for the gents, a classic graphic tee in a bright and sunny pattern, paired with shorts.

Of course, you’ll need some evening wear, too. For women, a classic summer party dress in florals or rich hues and some heeled sandals will give you all the holiday vibes. We also love a jumpsuit in a bright and brazen colour.

For men, a lightweight linen shirt pairs beautifully with tailored shorts or light-coloured chinos. Tropical Hawaiian patterns are, of course, a holiday staple, but they’re far from the only option. Go for the simplicity of a crisp white shirt with colourful trousers, or a bold short-sleeved shirt that pops in a vibrant colour like pink.

What to Pack for a City Break

Exploring a new city is always exciting. To pack, you’ll need clothes that are comfy yet chic for daytime exploring, and perhaps something a little more glamorous for evening meals and drinks on the town.

Flat shoes, like comfy pumps or boots, are best for wandering museums, galleries, and cobbled streets without getting worn out. We also advise a cross-body bag to protect from pickpockets. Slipping a small bag with your valuables - such as your phone and bank card - under your coat is one of our favourite hacks. The rest of your look is a little more flexible depending on the season and the city.

A summer break in Rome or Barcelona? A maxi skirt and breezy blouse will keep you cool, while men can take on a day of exploring in style with smart shorts and a polo.  An autumnal weekend in Vienna or Prague? Ladies might try a pleated or tweed midi skirt and a beautiful blazer, while men can strut through the city in brogues, dark jeans, and a well-fitted knit

Heading for the cool glamour of New York or London? Women might try fitted jeans and a snug top, elevated with a statement piece like a waistcoat or a hat. Men could rock a Henley top and distressed denim, topped off with a leather jacket

In the evenings, women could switch to a midi party dress and heels, while men could try some casual tailoring, such as sharp trousers and a waistcoat or blazer

In the current country music resurgence, Nashville is a super popular city break. If that’s your holiday of choice, head on over to our Nashville style guide

What to Pack for a Weekend Getaway in the Countryside

Sometimes there’s absolutely nothing better than the British countryside, whether it’s the magnificent cliffs of Cornwall or the rugged majesty of the Yorkshire Moors.

Even in typically sunny seasons, the British weather is unpredictable, so packing plenty of layers is a must. You can use our layering guide to help you.

For women, sensible trousers and a breathable top make for fabulous hiking gear, while a vintage-inspired tea dress will work beautifully for visiting cafes and village shops. Just add a cardigan and thick tights in the chilly months. For a jacket, nothing quite says British countryside like tweed. Layer a tweed blazer over any look for quintessentially English charm.

For men, a Lake District hike or a day on the Cornish waves is best paired with a graphic t-shirt that screams ‘adventure’ and a fuzzy fleece that helps you handle even the most blustering winds. If braving the Winter wilderness, swap the t-shirt for a snug Henley top. Don’t forget trainers or bulky boots

When it’s time to smarten up, a statement cardigan or jumper layered over a polo is always a winner for classy cosiness. Or, on a summery day, a lightweight, short-sleeved button-up shirt is a perfect choice for those post-hike pints.

What to Pack for a Skiing Holiday

Warmth is everything when it comes to hitting the slopes, and luckily, we have gorgeous statement knitwear for men and women. A light t-shirt topped with a jumper locks in the warmth - and don’t forget accessories like snug scarves, hats and gloves.

For women, a bobble hat is a perfect companion for the slopes. A roll-necked jumper is also a delightful choice because it doubles as a top and scarf! Don’t forget something a little sleeker for chalet evenings, like a velour or knit dress. And, of course, if you’re lucky enough to bag a chalet with a hot tub, a swimsuit is a must.

For men, a beanie is the ultimate cool-guy ski accessory. Then, for much-needed warmth, a jumper and fleece combo keeps you snug enough to take on the day.
