The Story Behind Joe's Ladies Spring Summer Collection
Behind every style we design there is a remarkable story!
Our incredible buyers and designers work hard to create original pieces that are inspired by stories, travels and experiences, meaning our collections are always filled with real heart and soul! This season is no exception, so we thought we would introduce you to our Head Of Design, George to find out more about her favourite pieces from the new collection.
George has been with us for many years, so when it comes to designing prints, selecting colours and experimenting with new and exciting shapes, she really knows her stuff! From searching through vintage markets to discover new fabrics to creating her own exclusive and unique designs, she’s always coming up with something new and exciting!
Here’s some of the stories behind her favourites…
Jazzy Jacquard Jacket
“First up is the Jazzy Jacquard Jacket which is a favourite of mine. When it came to designing this jacket, I used a traditional handicraft theme as my main inspiration. I’d admired a hooded style at one of the Paris Fashion Week shows and wanted to create something similar but with a classic Joe Browns twist! I used a hand crafted looking stitch to create a unique home spun feel and used a soft jacquard fabric - perfect for the spring months. I finished it off perfectly with beautiful embroidered detail to make it even more special!”
Floral Butterfly Tunic
“I absolutely love heading to Brighton for inspiration – especially when designing the spring summer collections. When I was last there I found a lovely floral greetings card in one of the boutiques and I was instantly inspired to create a new print design for this season! Taking inspiration from the bright florals trend and the card design, we created this beautiful butterfly design as the basis of the print for our vibrant summer tunic”.
Lisbon Tunic
“We’re always inspired by places all around the world when designing the collections which is a lot of fun. This season I was especially inspired the handicraft style, from the Island of Bali in Indonesia. Starting with the idea of developing a print around Balinese florals and including a unique dying technique, we created this wonderful tunic. We also added some pom pom detail to further emphasise the crafted feel ”.
Adventure Awaits T-Shirt
“The amazing graphic print on our Adventure Awaits T-Shirt was inspired by intricate scenic tattoos! It’s set to be a big trend for the season but we’ve turned it on its head in classic Joe Browns way. Inspired by adventure and road trips, this design is one of my favourites. To help give the T-Shirt a more boho style, we added textured crafted straps and an oil wash to give a more organic finish – it’s the perfect relaxed style for a staycation.”
Maldives Tunic
“The stunning print on the Maldives Tunic was inspired by tantalizing tile trends. I loved all the rich colours and intricate patterns and when we found this print from one of our print studios, I knew it would look amazing on a tunic. I also wanted to add a bit of texture with embroidery and colourful stitching, helping to make it even more unique”.
