5 Bohemian Looks for Every Season
The boho trend has been around longer than living memory, so it’s safe to say it’s not going anywhere anytime soon. When we think of bohemian, we think floaty dresses, kimonos, wraps and lots of accessories – but what about boho styling from season to season?
In this guide, we’ll give you 5 top looks that can take your boho capsule wardrobe from season to season to keep you stylishly free-spirited all year round.
What is Boho Style?
Boho style is a way of dressing that embodies an eclectic, unconventional approach to styling that’s commonly associated with a more refined “hippie” vibe. Generally, it’s seen as retro, but in the world of fashion, what goes around comes back around!

Is There a Difference Between Boho and Bohemian?
Boho and bohemian are often used interchangeably, but here we’ll highlight some key differences, if you really want to get into the nitty-gritty.
What is Boho?
- “Boho” is a shortened form of “bohemian” and is commonly used as a casual term that refers to the style or culture of bohemians.
- It’s more often associated with a specific fashion aesthetic that embraces free-spirited, eclectic and non-conformist elements.
- “Boho” has become a widely recognised term in fashion and pop culture, especially in the context of fashion trends, lifestyle choices and interior design.
What is Bohemian?
- “Bohemian” has a broader meaning that refers to various aspects of Bohemian Lifestyle
- Originally, “Bohemian” referred to a person from Bohemia, a historical region in the Czech Republic, but over time, it evolved to denote individuals or communities that were perceived to have unconventional lifestyles, artistic pursuits and nonconformity to societal norms.
- In addition to fashion, “bohemian” also encompasses artistic expression, intellectual pursuits and a rejection of materialism and conventionality.
What Age Range is Appropriate for Boho Style?
This is especially important, so listen up – from the ages of 20 to 40, boho style is perfect for you. However, for anyone over 40... boho style is still perfect for you. That’s right! Anyone – no matter your age – who wants to rock a bohemian look absolutely can – and look amazing while doing so.

How to Style 5 Boho Looks for Every Season
Now for the good part, we’ll give you five ways you can style a boho outfit throughout any season so you can recreate them in your own way.
Spring Boho Blossoms
Spring brings a time to embrace the sunrays coming back out and the weather getting warmer. This is the kind of time to break out the pastels and the floral prints, along with a lot of greens to celebrate the return of mother nature.
Spring is the perfect time to break out your floral dresses, especially floral maxi dresses! For the warmer spring days, add a chunky cardigan and some ankle boots, along with a patterned scarf and a fedora for extra style points. Accessorise with your choice of belts, long necklaces, bracelets and earrings. Don’t be afraid to layer your jewellery, either – the eclectic nature of boho style means they’ll look amazing no matter what.
For the colder spring days, simply add a leather jacket to your ensemble instead of the knitwear. It’ll give some extra edge to your ensemble and give you more of a Stevie Nicks-esque look that’s both a little boho and a little rock ‘n’ roll.
Summer Boho Vibes
Stay cool and stay stylish in our breezy boho summer looks. For the sunny season, try some off-the-shoulder tops with embroidered maxi skirts and give yourself a killer silhouette by cinching in your waist with an embroidered boho belt.
Accessorise your look with a wide-brimmed hat (bonus points for a straw hat!) and a pair of oversized sunglasses. If the heat is really ramping up, add a kimono (or a button-through maxi dress unbuttoned) over your top. If you want to switch out your maxi dress for a pair of shorts, you absolutely can with a kimono. Simply add some strappy sandals and you have a top to toe head-turning boho summer style.
Autumn Boho Layers
In autumn, the layers come out to play! Break out those fringed cardigans, your suede jackets and your flares. Autumn brings some great styling opportunities, so for our favourite autumn boho look, pay special attention to those rich, spicy autumnal tones to really make the most of this magical season.
If you’re still clinging onto those gorgeous maxi skirts that became your summer go-tos, simply pair them with a chunky knit sweater and a belt. This creates a fabulously relaxed and cosy silhouette that’s perfect for the autumn. Pair this with a leather jacket to really amp up the cosy vibes, and break out the long boots for a true boho look.
If you’re in more of a jeans mood, wear a pair of wide-leg jeans, bootcut jeans or flares and pair it with a graphic tee with a positive message as the base of your outfit. Layer on a chunky cardigan and a long jacket before adding your accessories. Long necklaces draw the eye inwards to your outfit, which allows people to take notice of all your careful layering.
Winter Boho Cosiness
When it comes to staying warm during winter, the boho aesthetic and its flowy, breezy style don’t exactly lend itself to fighting against the chill. Luckily, there are many pieces you can add to a boho outfit that makes it perfect for both winter and sensational style.
Incorporate lush textures like velvet, velour and devore dresses into the mix, which can be found in winter collections. These are slightly heavier and super cosy, with no compromise on the boho style. Add a sweater vest to a collared blouse and wear long, thick socks under your long boots to stay super snug. Add scarves, leather gloves, woolly hats and plenty of faux fur to amp up the elegant winter vibes.
The most important thing to know is when incorporating these luxurious textures into your boho style is that while they provide warmth, they teach you to dress consciously. Suede, faux fur and velvet are all timeless materials that never go out of fashion, so investing in these pieces is a must – especially in the Great British weather.
Transitional Boho Elegance
While we’re on the topic of Great British weather, transitional boho styles are crucial to any boho wardrobe. We’re talking versatility, like long-sleeve midi dresses, denim jackets and ankle boots.
Layering is your friend, so knitwear is the best bet for handling transitional weather. We also love the accessories that support layering, such as large handbags. We’re seeing a lot of slouch bags on the market right now, which fabulously lend themselves to storing your layers if the weather gets warmer. While knits and coats are great, step out of the ordinary and embrace wraps and ponchos for a real boho statement.
We also love adding a silk scarf in case of the chill which can be used as a shawl or even a hair band if the weather gets warmer, but our favourite way is to wrap it around out waist over a maxi skirt to provide some extra detail. There’s nothing quite like versatility!
All in all, the versatility of boho style is way more than just flowing fabrics for sunny days. It’s way more practical than first meets the eye. It’s also a great way to increase your creativity and individuality – so experiment with boho style to your heart’s content.
