My wife and I have been very fortunate to travel to some amazing places. A scooter trip around Tuscany has been one of my favourite trips so far- it was filled with laughter, wine, and a lot of carbs!
We threw a few essentials in a couple of bags and jumped on the plane from Leeds Bradford to Pisa for a week of freedom with no strings tied.
When we arrived, we picked up a 250cc scooter and were off on our adventure!
The beautiful walled city of Lucca was our first stop, just 15 miles from where we picked up our scooter from.
Old school map in hand and the sun warm on our backs, it wasn't long before we found a typical family run bar and enjoyed the best olives and beer with pasta to keep us going. Two great nights in Lucca and we were back on our scooter heading for San Gimignano. The views and sunsets were unreal!
We were sorry to leave but more of Tuscany lay ahead...
Travelling by scooter was our best move. We loved the medieval city of Siena with the Piazza Del Campo offering superb Pasta Pici which Vicky really enjoyed, being vegetarian. We stayed just a day in Siena- it was a bit too touristy for us but would have been disappointed to miss it.
The beautiful hilltop town of Montepulciano, surrounded by vineyards was our next stop and the most perfect place for Vicky, who is a keen photographer. The views and wine tasting were superb.
You couldn't visit Florence without spending a couple of days in Florence- the most beautiful city in Italy. Some say take the bus or train but for us it was the scooter all the way. Missing the main shopping hub, we loved sitting, reminiscing and "people watching", enjoying the famous gelato and taking in the magnificent Duomo Cathedral in all its glory.
One more stop for our trusted scooter in Pisa with a few fun photos- including the tower! Well, you have to, don't you!
It was a fantastic week that we'll never forget!
On to the next adventure...
