Sitting down with Pete and Carrie from the womenswear team, they dish all there is to know about how our boutique items are crafted.   

“We all sit down after every fashion week and study the big-name brands that pave the way for a new season. From Dior to Dolce & Gabbana, we dive into the structure, the embellishments and embroidery to draw inspiration from and translate into the classic Joe Browns handwriting. 

This season, it’s all about that structured military vibe softened with floral embroidery and hand-beading.” 

Furthermore, unique contrast lining is always present in these pieces. Interestingly, a lot of our homeware is fully designed inhouse, and we actually use the fabric pattern from the bedding of our homeware collections for the linings. We really wanted to tie our homeware and boutique lines together as they’re both a true testament to pure Joe Browns creativity, and our commitment to do things differently. 

When designing this one at Joe Browns HQ, we wanted to give this one a new shape to flow with our Poetic Heritage story, bringing both the vintage and bohemian vibes to tie the entire collection together. A Joe Browns boutique jacket should be treasured – but that doesn’t mean it can’t be worn at every opportunity. These items are supposed to be worn and loved – so we wanted our customer to style it in multiple ways to let the design breathe and live as a staple.  

From a tee-and-jeans style to a maxi skirt and long boots, this jacket can really elevate an overall look. It’s easy-wearing with a figure-flattering shape thanks to the peplum effect at the waist, crafted from premium velour with a contrast lining.  

We wanted to give our boutiques that “hidden gem” effect, as if it was a one-off piece found in a vintage shop. By adding embroidery throughout and intricate, individual hand-beading – this is a piece that will stand the test of time and is designed to be worn and loved for years to come.  Overall, when considering the amount of craft and work that goes into every piece, we wanted to pack it with value. Every person deserves a Joe Browns boutique jacket in their wardrobe, and we’re not one to do thing by halves, here! 

Certainly not lacking in individuality, we’ve added this ochre boutique jacket to our Secret Garden mini collection to bring a boutique element to the range and make the connection between the ochre and hues of the palette while nodding to the dark, moody florals in its embroidery.  

The Secret Garden mini collection draws heavily on classic vintage floral style, so we’ve given this jacket a boxy fit to bring it right up to date while keeping the design timeless. We wanted to keep the style neat, so by adding individual sequins by hand and giving it premium piping to the hem, this style fits perfectly with tailored trousers and dance hall heels for a boutique twist on a classic, refined look.  

Of course, it wouldn’t be a Joe Browns piece if we didn’t add our own twist to it. We also added a metallic thread to the neckline and font for extra shimmer. Lastly, we’ve brought the design to life with the floral embroidery to the front, the sleeves, the back and the border to let the design truly shine.  

We wanted a military vibe for this boutique jacket, so we challenged ourselves to push the boundaries of traditional military structure to bring this piece to our Day Dreamer collection. Crafted from midnight-hued velour, we’ve given this jacket a flared sleeve plus neon pink paisley and floral embroidery to bring this piece right up to date.  

The Day Dreamer collection is our nod to the psychedelic bohemian lifestyle. Combining this with our vision if the military style jacket, we’re reminded of the Beatles after their chasmic shift in sound on Sgt Pepper and Revolver. Thus, the Simply Stunning Boutique Jacket was born.  

We added a matching skirt, to coordinate with the jacket, drawing on a classic A-line style with that military inspiration for that real luxe feel. While each can by styled on their own, we’ve curated a knockout look when worn together, thanks to the matching embroidery. We’ve also added intricate antique-effect buttons to the front of the skirt to really allow this piece to stand alone when work with a classic white blouse.
