Come with us for a behind the scenes look of our recent photoshoot for our Project Fun collection! Where the objective for the day was – you guessed it - fun!

For a collection of 8 jumpers and cardigans that are jam-packed with vibrant colour and unique prints, we wanted the essence of this collection to translate in the photos. Read on to see how we did it.

We kept it local for this shoot as our team headed to Cuckoo on Call Lane in Leeds. The day started with our model, Ellis, sitting in the hair and make-up chair in our head office studio. Once we had everything packed (believe us when we say we packed enough to sink the Titanic to shoot only 8 pieces of knitwear!) we made the short drive over to Call Lane to begin our day of shooting.

As this collection is all about bold prints and bright colours, we wanted to find a location that reflected just that. And with not one, not two, but three carnival themed bars, Cuckoo Bar couldn’t have been a more perfect location! Even if all the decorations distracted our team for most of the day – it would have been rude of us not to pretend to be bartenders in an empty bar!

Our location was a colourful, carnival themed bar with paint-splatter booths, neon and fairground lights, plastic mounted zebra heads, and glittery carousel horses - perfect for the vibrant nature of the new collection. We also took to the outdoors to get some streetstyle shots among the people of Leeds – and not forgetting their gorgeous four-legged friends making some cameos! Speaking of dogs, we have to give a special mention to the adorable cockapoo who kept an eye on proceedings (very excitably) from the opposite café's window front!

This was a one-day shoot, where everyone worked hard to get all 8 pieces shot. Despite this, our Head of Creative Rich still managed to find some time to try the jumpers on, just to test the quality – or so he says! With Nisha, our in-house photographer, a videographer, and our fab social team snapping away, there’s a lot to be done and plenty of coffees on hand to help!

Gemma, our amazing stylist, and Leanne, the hair and makeup artist were on hand to keep our model suited and booted with not a hair out of place. Eagle-eyed viewers may also spot a sneak peek of some products from our SS23 collection as a bonus sneak peek for you Joe Browns superfans!

Never the ones to turn up empty handed; we had props-a-plenty for this shoot. From rainbow roller skates, retro polaroid cameras to a Rubik’s cube that, despite our best efforts, no one managed to solve! Our model Ellis took it all on like a champ – we can’t imagine blowing the perfect bubble gum bubble with a team of 15 and 4 cameras in your face is easy – but she managed it!

At Joe Browns we’re all about making people feel fabulous and stand out, that’s why our new Project Fun collection is so different, yet so quintessentially us! We hope you enjoy the collection as much as we enjoyed making and shooting it!
