Ow do! To celebrate our northern roots this Yorkshire Day (Joe Browns was born and bred in God’s own county don’t you know!) we thought - what better way to mark the occasion than share with you a classic and downright tasty Yorkshire Pudding recipe. As we’re sure you’ll agree, they can be rather difficult to perfect!

Ingredients:

  • 4 eggs

  • 140g plain flour

  • 200ml milk

  • Sunflower oil, for cooking purposes

  • Salt and pepper for seasoning

*Recipe makes 8 large Yorkshire Puddings (or 16 tiny ones!).

How to make ‘em…

Prepping your puds:

  1. Set your oven to 230C (fan 210C and gas mark 8).

  2. Grab your sunflower oil and drizzle a little into each hole of your Yorkshire pudding tin(s). Alternatively, you can use non-stick muffin tins.

  3. Once done, place in the oven to heat the oil.

How to make the batter:

  1. Pour the plain flour into a bowl then add in all 4 eggs, beating together until the mixture is smooth.

  2. Pour the milk into the bowl (gradually and carefully) and carry on beating the mixture until it is completely lump-free. Tip: we recommend using a large balloon whisk to beat the batter - this helps get plenty of air into the mixture and will help your Yorkshires rise!

  3. Add a little salt and pepper to season.

  4. Pour the batter into a measuring jug.

  5. Carefully take the tin(s) from the oven using some oven gloves and evenly pour the batter from the jug into the holes in the tin(s).

  6. Place the hot tin(s) back into the oven and cook for around 20 minutes or until the puddings have turned golden and puffed into shape. Tip: Do not open the oven door while the puddings are cooking. We know how tempting it is to have a peek - but refrain.

  7. Enjoy!

If you’d rather save them for another time, leave them to cool and then freeze for up to one month.
